3 Staple Sweater Dresses for Winter

Since I moved to the USA, I have stayed in regions that receive snow. So, we have five seconds of summer while the rest of the year I live inside a big fat thermal jacket, with no care in the world about what I wear inside that jacket. Last fall season, I promised myself that the sweater season doesn’t always have to be sweaters and denim dulled with thermal layers to drown me down. It doesn’t have to be uncomfortable either, instead, I wanted to upgrade my wardrobe such that I look chic, put together, and be comfortably warm.

Then came sweater dresses to the rescue! I have added 3 cozy sweater dresses to my wardrobe, and I crush on all of them. These are great for fall and also act as good layering pieces in winter.

1. BRIGHT COLORED MIDI DRESS: A girls’ night out or a date when there is a little nip in the air? A bright-colored midi sweater dress is the answer. Throw it on to instantly amp up your look, as if you have taken efforts to put your look together all you have done is slip into the dress)

This is the brightest, coziest, and most stylish sweater dress I own. My most favorite from the list! I got this from Forever 21 and fell in love at first sight. The dress hugs in the right places, the length is just perfect to add height to my frame and the double-slit is to die for!! Although boots and sweater dresses make up for a perfect pair, it wasn’t very chilly on the shoot day, so I opted for my most versatile pair of suede mules in nude color. I think the suede mules go well with the sweater dresses’ texture, and the color compliments the magenta dress.

Add a contrast colored belt to cinch that waist for even more drama. This one came with the belt.

2. CAMEL/SAND COLORED SLOUCHY DRESS: A fresh new way to add a style statement is to sport that sexy slouch with an off-shoulder or a cold-shoulder bodice. This camel colored sweater dress certainly gives that pumpkin-spice vibe. The dress is too short for my liking (in the colder season), so I make sure to wear this at the onset of fall when I can still be comfortable or pair it with the warmest tights in winters.

Do not be afraid to pair tan/camel colored dresses with black boots or tights. It won’t be a fashion faux pas.

3. A CLASSIC MOCK NECK DRESS IN GREY: This was my first sweater dress, and If I may, I say it is a classic wardrobe staple for all the women living in places that get winters or have the fall season. For someone who wants to build a capsule wardrobe, This is a must-have. This body-hugging, mock neck dress keeps me warm while being stylish. I start my fall evenings dressed in pairs of mules or ankle boots. You can add stockings and ankle boots for more warmth and also a stylish trench coat if need be!
